Dave Allen has set the stage for war ahead of his much-anticipated rematch with unbeaten heavyweight prospect Johnny Fisher — and this time, he’s not playing nice.
The two British heavyweights are set to run it back on May 17 at London’s Copper Box Arena, live on DAZN under the Matchroom Boxing banner. Their first meeting in Saudi Arabia ended in a controversial draw, leaving fans and fighters hungry for a decisive outcome.
But in the build-up to this fiery second clash, Allen has ditched the humility and ramped up the psychological warfare.
“You’re made for me,” Allen said bluntly in a recent face-off. “You can’t help yourself. You’ll get dragged into a war again — and this time, earlier.”
Allen, known affectionately as “The White Rhino”, dropped Fisher with a brutal left hook in round five of their last bout. Despite a strong finish and Fisher’s incredible toughness — fighting through a perforated eardrum — many observers felt the split draw favoured the younger man.
Now, Allen is zeroing in on what he believes is Fisher’s Achilles heel: his inexperience.
“You’re a great athlete. Strong, powerful, fast — but you’re not a good boxer. You can’t be. Twelve amateur fights and thirteen pro bouts? It’s impossible.”
Fisher, dubbed “The Romford Bull,” boasts a pristine 13-0 record with 11 knockouts. But his journey into boxing began as a side hobby while training for rugby — a sharp contrast to Allen, a former national amateur champion once considered for Team GB.
This rematch is not just about bragging rights — it’s a defining moment for both fighters. For Allen (23-7-2, 18 KOs), it’s a shot at redemption and relevance. For Fisher, it’s a proving ground to show he’s more than a knockout puncher and can thrive under pressure against seasoned opposition.
